Etymology

Greek kryptos ‘hidden’ + Greek karpos ‘fruit’. Kiesling and Piltz: “Etymology: Yavia is named after the Dept. of Yavi; cryptocarpa (Greek for hidden-fruited) refers to the fruits that are embedded in the plant body.”
