Latin lĕprōsōrum ‘of (the) lepers’ (genitive plural of lĕprōsus ‘leper’). For the occurrence in the leper colony near Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil (“habitat leprosorio prope Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul”).
