Etymology

Named for German botanist August Weberbauer (1871-1948). Proposed as a possible generic name for a group of Lobivia species “discovered and first collected by Prof. Weberbauer and Dr. [Erik] Asplund”.

Not to be confused with WeberbauerocereusΒ Backeb. and Weberbauera Gilg & Muschl. (1909) (Brassicaceae), which are also named after August Weberbauer.
