Greek pseudo– ‘false, appearing to be’ + Latin pectĭnātus ‘combed’. For the “really striking resemblance to Solisia pectinata [= Mammillaria pectinifera]” (Backeberg). The epithet of the latter species refers to the comb-like arrangement of the spines.
