Etymology

Latin Hungarica ‘Hungarian’. Named for the country where this cultivar came about.

A reclassification of Cereus hungaricus Földi (1936) as a cultivar. It was originally named ‘Hungaria’, but the specific epithet hungaricus should have been taken up as the cultivar name (art. 21.5, International Code of Nomenclature for Cultivated Plant).
