Latin Quevedōnis, genitive (possessive) form of Quevedo. Named for Mexican environmentalist Ing. Miguel Ángel de Quevedo (1862-1946). Epithets of this type, in which a modern family name is treated as a third-declension Latin noun, are discouraged in Rec. 60C.1 of the International Code of Nomenclature, but not correctable (Art. 60.9 Ex. 30). Compare Gymnocalycium saglionis and Selenicereus ocamponis.
