Etymology

Greek stenos ‘narrow’ + Greek pteron ‘wing’. For the shape of the ribs. Weber stated the species is “[c]haracterized by its 3 ribs or wings, very thin, compressed” (“Caractérisé par ses 3 côtes ou ailes, très minces, comprimées”).
