Etymology

Named for Dr. Harald E. Anthony, in whose collection the species first flowered. It is not named for Saint Anthony, as the English names Saint Anthony’s cactus, Saint Anthony’s zigzag cactus and Saint Anthony’s ric-rac cactus suggest.
