Portuguese quiabento, vernacular name for Quiabentia zehntneri in Brazil (as well as for Pereskia bahiensis, Pereskia grandifolia and Pereskia stenantha). From Portuguese quiabo ‘okra (Abelmoschus esculentus)’, for the taste of the cooked leaves.
