Etymology

Greek nothos ‘false, spurious’ + rauschii. This new name for Notocactus rauschii was necessary because the combination Parodia rauschii (= Parodia aureicentra) already existed. Both species were named for Austrian botanist Walter Rausch (1928-), who discovered Parodia nothorauschii in Uruguay.
