The “correction” to magentea by Richard Crook and Roy Mottram (Bradleya 18: 116-117. 2000) is contrary to article 60 of the the International Code of Nomenclature. The color name magenta was coined only in 1860. In botanical Latin both magenta and magentea are used as adjectival forms.
