Japanese saboten ‘cactus’. One of the Japanese common names for this plant. Makino: “This Cactus is the first introduced by the Dutch (if not, Portuguese) into Nippon, it was formerly brought to Nagasaki, prov. Hizen of KyΓ»shΓ», and now can be seen here and there in the warmer parts of this country.”
