Etymology

Named “at the request of [Belgian nurseryman] Mr. [Frantz] De Laet in honor of his loyal and long-standing gardener, Mr. François Verhaert, who, from an early age, rendered invaluable services to Mr. De Laet through his excellent memory of Mr. De Laet’s cacti” (Bödeker).
