Etymology

Lodi + Latin -a, the recommended suffix to form plant genus names from personal names that end with a vowel other than a (Rec. 60B.1(a), International Code of Nomenclature). Named for Italian botanist Giuseppe Lodi, “for many years curator of the succulent collection at the Orto Botanico of the Bologna University, and author, among other things, of the book “Le mie piante grasse”, by which the Italian succulent scholars were enlightened”.
