Etymology

Greek krēmnos ‘cliff’ + Greek philos ‘loving, friend’. For “the exclusive cliffdwelling habitat of this species, which is unique for Leptocereus in Hispaniola”. Compare Espostoa cremnophila, also published by Hoxey.
