Etymology

Named for French botanist Jean Baptiste Houllet (1815-1890), sous-chef of the glasshouses of the MusĆ©um national d’histoire naturelle in Paris. Lemaire: “A very curious and very distinct species, introduced a few years ago from Brazil, and the knowledge of which we owe to Mr. Houllet, of the MusĆ©um of Paris, to whom we dedicate it with pleasure, in recognition of his obligatory communications!”
