Etymology

Named for French botanist Jean Baptiste Houllet (1815-1890), sous-chef of the glasshouses of the Muséum national d’histoire naturelle in Paris. Lemaire: “A very curious and very distinct species, introduced a few years ago from Brazil, and the knowledge of which we owe to Mr. Houllet, of the Muséum of Paris, to whom we dedicate it with pleasure, in recognition of his obligatory communications!”
