Krainz + Latin -Δa, the recommended suffix to form plant genus names from personal names that end with a consonant (Rec. 60B.1(b), International Code of Nomenclature). Named “in honor of the president of the Swiss Cactus Enthusiasts, Mr. Krainz”, i.e. Swiss horticulturist Hans Krainz (1906-1980), director of the Municipal Succulent Plant Collection ZΓΌrich.
