Echinopsis ducis-pauli
('ducis Pauli') C.F.Först. ex Rümpler (1886)
Etymology
🌵 Author(s) | Theodor Rümpler |
Latin ducis Pauli (genitive of dux Paulus) ‘of Duke Paul’. Named for German naturalist and explorer Duke Friedrich Paul Wilhelm of Württemberg (1797-1860), “a passionate and erudite plant lover” (Rümpler).
The original spelling ducis Pauli is correctable to ducis-pauli under the International Code of Nomenclature, not (as in IPNI) to ducis-paulii.
According to Bohumil Schütz (Sukkulentenkunde 1948: 29-32) this is not the same species as Lobivia ducis-pauli Frič (1930).
