Etymology

Greek kalos ‘beautiful’ + Latin rŭber (stem rŭbr-) ‘red’. For the “orange red” to “magenta red” flowers. Perhaps formed in analogy with Echinopsis calochlora (Greek kalos ‘beautiful’ + Greek chlōros ‘greenish-yellow, pale green’).
