Etymology

Greek kalos ‘beautiful’ + Greek chlōros ‘greenish-yellow, pale green’. For the attractive light green epidermis. Schumann: “Its light green body with the yellow spines on the areoles sunken deep into the ribs would have aroused admiration even without the delicately built, soft white flower, which, when open, did not show the trumpet shape of the usual Echinopsis, but rather resembled that of a flat bowl on a slender stem.”
