Echinopsis berlingii
Y.Itô (1957)
Etymology
🌵 Author(s) | Yoshio Itō |
🌵 Type of | Acanthechinopsis |
Unknown. Presumably named for a Mr. Berling. According to Itō the name was first used as a nomen nudum by Curt Backeberg in 1936, but Backeberg (Cactaceae 2: 1302) states it was first published (as a nomen nudum) in Cact. Succ. J. (Los Angeles) 1939: 86 (not seen).
This is the type species of Acanthechinopsis, but the combination Acanthechinopsis berlingii was apparently never published.
