Diploperianthium
F.Ritter, nom. inval. (1957)
Etymology
π΅ Author(s) | Friedrich Ritter |
π΅ Type | Diploperianthium substerile |
Greek diploΓΆs ‘twofold, double’ + botanical Latin perianthium ‘perianth’. A provisional name for Callymanthium. “In any case it is a pity that F. Ritter abandoned the originally chosen name “Diploperianthium“, which would have expressed the true characteristic of the genus, the perianth made up of two heterogeneous elements” (Hans Krainz, Die Kakteen, C1a, 1.XII.1969).
