Latin Brasilia ‘Brazil’ + Harrisia. For the occurrence in Brazil and the affinity to Harrisia. Guiggi: “a compound name from Latin Brasili “Brazilian”, referred to the distinct geographic origin of the new taxon and Harrisia, for the close relationships with this genus.”
