×Aporocandicans

×Aporocandicans hort.,
Etymology

An informal name for hybrids between Aporocactus flagelliformis and Trichocereus candicans, variously used as a nothogenus, a nothospecies and a cultivar name, but not validly published as any of these. The correct nothogenus for these hybrids is ×Aporotrichocereus (when Aporocactus and Trichocereus are both recognized), ×Aporechinopsis (when Trichocereus is considered a synonym of Echinopsis) or ×Disonopsis (when Aporocactus is considered a synonym of Disocactus). There is no nothogenus for Disocactus × Trichocereus.

The Encyclopedia of Cacti attributes the name (as “Trichocereus hybrid x aporocandicans“) to Robert Gräser in Kakteen And. Sukk. 18(1): 9. 1967, but it is not mentioned there.
