Etymology

Latin Ä“rectus ‘erect, upright’ + Greek klados ‘branch’. Backeberg: “Low cushions; the older branches lie flat down; the younger ones emerge vertically from these” (“Lave Puder; de ældre Grene ligger fladt ned; de yngre fremkommer lodretstillede fra disse”); “forming low cushions; bearing old horizontal and young upright stem segments” (“Pulvinos humiles formans; articulis vetustis horizontalibus juveniles erectos ferentibus”).
