Pseudozygocactus
Backeb. (1938)
Etymology
🌵 Author(s) | Curt Backeberg |
🌵 Type | Pseudozygocactus epiphylloides |
Greek pseudo- ‘false, appearing to be’ + Zygocactus. For the similarity in habit to Zygocactus. Backeberg described the genus as having “Epiphyllum-like stems (i.e. like the Epiphylli)”. His “subnation” Epiphylli included the genera Epiphyllopsis, Schlumbergera and Zygocactus, its name reflecting the older usage of Epiphyllum for Schlumbergera (truncata).
