Etymology

Anagram of Mendoza. For the occurrence in the Argentine province of that name, which is named for its capital city, which in turn takes it name from García Hurtado de Mendoza, 5th Marquis of Cañete (1535-1609), Spanish governor of Chile and viceroy of Peru.
