De Laet + Latin -Äa, the recommended suffix to form plant genus names from personal names that end with a consonant (Rec. 60B.1(b), International Code of Nomenclature). Named for Belgian nurseryman Frantz De Laet (1866-1928), “to whose large-scale imports cactus science and the cactus hobby owed much at the time”.
